My rating: 8/10 Goodreads average rating: 4.02/5 stars One book I read recently was titled Until Friday Night by Abbi Glines. Before this book, I had never read an Abbi Glines book. Ever. I know I've been missing out. Published on August 25th, 2015, and is 328 pages of an amazing read. The events in this book take place in a small town called Lawton, Alabama. This book switches between the perspectives of two main characters... West and Maggie. West is a golden boy. He is popular, good-looking, football player, has all the girls after him, has all the guys fearing him, but his life isn't perfect. His father is suffering from cancer and the doctors are incapable of helping him. West can not talk to anyone. Only him, his mother, and his father know about his sickness. There are those, like his best friend Brady, who would support them if he knew, but his father wishes to deal with his illness alone. West will respect h...
Hey guys, WoW! It's been a while since I saw this blog. Originally, I made Pages of Truth when I was a bit younger. It's both funny and embarrassing to look back at some of my old posts, but it reminded me of that spirit I once possessed. This spirit allowed me to share my passions without concern for criticism or fear of others' opinions. Like most teenagers, during this time between my first post and now, I have lost a lot of this spirit. I have felt a lot less comfortable with myself and less able to express myself in this forum. Looking back at the posts written by what seems like a different girl, I realize that I am still chasing that dream. The dream that I would be able to influence others and maybe recommend a book they loved, or share a funny meme that makes someone laugh hysterically. Since the time when I created this blog, the types of books and interests I've taken up have matured. I feel that the person I am now is in an even better position to speak to...
My rating: 7/10 stars Goodreads average rating: 4.05/5 stars Some spoilers throughout. Book Cover From reading some of the reviews for Of Poseidon, I can tell that people either loved or hated this book. It was published May 22, 2012. This means I am relatively late to the party for this book. However, I am completely thankful for the saying "better late than never" because I loved this book. I rated it a 7 because, while I enjoyed the world building that goes on, the author lets it take away from adding some depth to the character relationships. Of Poseidon is 324 pages and the first book in The Syrena Legacy series. Mermaids have often been thought of as mythical creatures and this book really does a great job at making their existence seem possible. (My apologies for saying mermaids. They prefer to be referred to as Syrena). Something interesting in this book, as far as the writing goes, was the author’s use of perspective. For Emma, the auth...
